| Description |
English: Mentor was one of the three men who were convicted for the great city fire of Paramaribo (1832). The fire destroyed in a short time about 50 houses and the Lutheran church. The complete drawing includes the the portraits of the two other convicts Cojo (Kodjo) and Present and was made by the Surinamese artist Gerrit Schouten on January 24, 1833 and was later found among the papers of the President of the Court of Justice, judge Adriaan François Lammens.
Nederlands: Mentor was een van de drie mannen die zijn veroordeeld voor het stichten van de Stadsbrand van Paramaribo (1832). Het vuur vernietigde in de nacht van 3 op 4 september 1832 in korte tijd ongeveer 50 huizen en de Lutherse kerk. De complete tekening bevat ook de portretten van de twee andere veroordeelden Cojo (Kodjo) en Present en werd op 24 januari 1833 gemaakt door de Surinaamse kunstenaar Gerrit Schouten en later terug gevonden tussen de ingebonden aantekeningen van de president van het Hof van Justitie, rechter Adriaan François Lammens. |
