Summit, pass, escarpment, or what?
[edit]@Quesotiotyo:, you reverted my description of Lewiston Hill as a "mountain pass". However, as I recall, the old highway and the new highway (both described as "U.S. Route 95") has long been referred to as ascending the "Lewiston Hill" or "Lewiston Grade", but the big steep slope extends along the banks of the Snake River well into Washington state, and it really isn't referred to as "Lewiston Hill" west of Clarkston, Washington. Given its geological similarity to Cajon Pass (a road crossing an escarpment), it seems referring to it as a "mountain" might be a misnomer, especially since the road is the most notable item. Since the "Lewiston Hill" article on English Wikipedia seems to have notable sources discussing the road (and the other articles probably do too), could we refer to Q49044083 as a "mountain pass"? -- RobLa (talk) 04:16, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- @RobLa: I'm still not seeing how it is a mountain pass (Q133056) (which is not the same thing as a road which passes over a mountain, which would be a separate entity anyway). Can you point to any source which makes this claim?
