new chairman (of trustees) in 2020
[edit]I verified through IRS forms 990 for years 2019 and 2020 that Barb (Barbara) van Andel-Gaby became chairman of the board of trustees sometime in 2020 (best that can be determined from what is written in the Form-990 yr2020). She had been a board member for quite some time before this, at least since 2012 (from Form-990s).
As an aside, Heritage Foundation has often had many board members. They are mostly (so-called) independent, with the exception often being the president. Heritage has claimed that their board of trustees are fully independent, but this has often not been true. For example, the president from 2018 through until December 2021 was Kay Coles James, but she was both a board member and the president throughout that entire time; in fact James was a board member from 2005 until 2022.
