Hi Magnus! Recently I've been looking at quite a lot of geographical categories on Commons.

A nice feature extension to WikiShootMe would be to highlight a particular category (ie the wikidata item associated with it) in yellow, and images associated with it. This would make it easier to find images that ought to be associated with the category, but haven't yet been placed in it.

WikiShootMe is now directly linked from the wikidata-powered infoboxes on Commons, which would make the feature particularly useful, if the category could link highlighting the images already associated with it. Thanks!! -- James.

Being able to highlight a Commons category (perhaps in yellow) would also help with seeing what wikidata items there are nearby, that perhaps the category ought to be matched with

So the Commons category would be passed as a URL parameter, eg from the infobox? And/or as a button in the Wikidata item hover box? And the blue Commons file dots would get a yellow border to indicate they are in the category? I can get the files for a category from petscan, depth 3 OK?

Thanks, Magnus. For some reason I can see these highlighted on my phone, but not on my laptop -- it seems to rewrite the url wthout the main_commons_category bit.  ???

This seems to be working really well now. It's now live in the sandbox version of the Commons infobox template, c:Template:Wikidata Infobox/Sandbox, through which I have already used it a few times, so should be live in the live version in a few days.
