Motivation
[edit]There is an identifier that can be found on OpenStreetMap (taginfo) and on many Wikipedia pages under the name of COG (probably for "Code officiel géographique") with as source the "Institut National de Cartographie". We have a lot of gaps regarding small subdivisions in Cameroon and an identifier could help inventory them on Wikidata. However, I cannot find any online base and official source for this id; if anyone finds one, it would be nice to add it. — Baidax 💬 13:30, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Nice idea but if there is no online database to query, what's the use ? --Bouzinac 💬●✒️●💛 13:52, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
- Wait more info would be nice, I don't like relying only on one source but still a good identifier so mostly Support. @Bouzinac: a link is nice but not mandatory, a lot of external identifier don't have a link, the data is still good in itself for identfying the subject (think of the ICAO codes for instance), especially for Africa where we have very few data. Plus, maybe someday there will be an URL. Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 15:23, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
- Support, an important property for Cameroon.--Arbnos (talk) 17:45, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
