Described and Captioned Media Program producer ID
[edit]Originally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Organization
Description | Identifier code from Described and Captioned Media Program (Q5263779), a program fully funded by the United States Department of Education (Q861556) which provides resources for students with disabilities. |
---|---|
Data type | External identifier |
Domain | Wikidata item (Q16222597) |
Allowed values | [0-9]+ |
Example 1 | Ambrose Video Publishing (Q89510019) → 18 |
Example 2 | University of California Television (Q7864132) → 1759 |
Example 3 | AIMS Multimedia (Q89676824) → 11 |
Planned use | I'd like to see this added to Mix'n'match so that all the production and distribution companies listed could be linked on Wikidata. |
Expected completeness | eventually complete (Q21873974) |
Formatter URL | https://dcmp.org/producers/$1 |
Robot and gadget jobs | I would allow users to input longer forms ([0-9]+[-a-zA-Z]+, eg. 18-ambrose-video-publishing-inc). Only the numeric digits at the beginning are necessary (eg. 18). A bot could remove the trailing name. If we wanted to be exceptionally lenient, we could even allow users to enter complete URLs, eg. https://dcmp.org/producers/18-ambrose-video-publishing-inc and have a bot identify the ID. |
Motivation
[edit]Adding this property will make it easier for people to find accessible versions of published content, and make Wikidata's corpus of film production and distribution companies more complete. Daask (talk) 15:24, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Support. @Daask: Does the site have a list of producers? I'd like to create a mix'n'match catalog but can't find a suitable page to scrape. Trivialist (talk) 01:59, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Trivialist: I'm afraid the site does not have such a list. You might try contacting the site administrators for one. Daask (talk) 23:08, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
