Motivation
[edit]Wikidata includes several hundred individuals from Ancient Egypt within the scope of Persons and Names of the Middle Kingdom and early New Kingdom. Many of them (but not all) are among the results of the following Query. The database Persons and Names of the Middle Kingdom and early New Kingdom contains references to sources and relevant bibliography, persons's titles in transliteration and the name in hieroglyphs --Ailintom (talk) 13:16, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- Also individuals for assigning the property can be found under de:Kategorie:Altägyptischer Beamter (Mittleres Reich) (83 persons) de:Kategorie:Altägyptischer Beamter (Neues Reich) (only some of 142 persons belong to the early New Kingdom), en:Category:Officials of the Twelfth Dynasty of Egypt, en:Category:Officials of the Thirteenth Dynasty of Egypt, en:Category:Officials of the Seventeenth Dynasty of Egypt, en:Category:Officials of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt and other related categories. --Ailintom (talk) 13:48, 27 September 2024 (UTC)

- Support. Very nice database and a great idea. I would be happy if such a database were available for my topics. Now I also understand why many German-language articles start with the origin of the name in brackets, because the mapping from Tuja to 2773 could be an issue. --Falten-Jura (talk) 12:38, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- Please note the stable link for every name because of the upgrade procedure, i.e. https://pnm.uni-mainz.de/5/person/2773. Falten-Jura (talk) 12:58, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- I do not think, stable links and updates should be an issue, because
https://pnm.uni-mainz.de/person/$1
always resolves to the latest version of the database entry, and we do not need to refer to a specific version of the database entry when the reference is used for authority control (as in WikiData) rather than as a reference to specific information cited from the database.- Ailintom (talk) 13:39, 29 September 2024 (UTC)- Indeed, it would be bad DB design if the mapping was changed from index to personal names, but the people in charge won't give you a guarantee. - At least this this is the kind of URLs (without version) used in the database's own SPARQL instance as entity identifier Ailintom (talk) 05:32, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
