Motivation
[edit]This database is a valuable source of information on popular literature not just in Britain in the mid-nineteenth century, but also in France and in the United States since French romans-feuilletons were translated in penny weekly numbers in London while American fiction was reprinted. The database links authors to their The Literary Encyclopedia (Q7747554) ID, Oxford Dictionary of National Biography ID (P1415), Dictionary of Nineteenth-Century Journalism (Q86370176) and The Wellesley index to Victorian periodicals, 1824-1900 (Q52063208) identifiers in ProQuest's Nineteenth Century Index, and the Royal Literary Fund (Q7374404) case file number.
There are also external identifiers for publishers, works, periodicals, and libraries which hold copies of these rare books. Separate property proposals will be made for these other identifiers since the formatter URL is different. Marianika (talk) 15:05, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
