- @Momiji-Penguin: what's exactly the difference between this and "Professional shogi player number". If one is for men and the other is for women, the one for men should also have something about men in the name. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 19:15, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- @ChristianKl: "Professional shogi player number" is for JSA professional shogi players. Both men and women can become this, but women has never been this yet. "Women's professional shogi player number" is for Women's professional players (女流棋士). Women's professional players are in groups distinct from JSA professional shogi players.--Momiji-Penguin (talk) 20:00, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
- Comment I see some of the women have pages on japanese wikipedia. Also it seems they are not competing in the top-tier? Suggesting that they might not really be notable. Or is there a women's league? The number of IDs might also be on the low side. Infrastruktur (talk) 12:45, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support Looks like there is a women's league. Infrastruktur (talk) 13:15, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Comment The number of people is probably too small for a new property. I think 100 expected property usage is required. Midleading (talk) 15:14, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- Do we have a clear criteria for number of usage? This is apart from database IDs but a general info for shogi players, so I think we don't have to consider about usage. Laftp0 (talk) 05:47, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- The guideline for identifiers is that there should be 100 items or more. A property creator can choose to ignore this guideline but should have a good reason for doing so. In this case I think you could argue that the women's representation in a sport would not be well-represented otherwise? Would that be a fair assessment? - The number has grown to 83 now. I think we should wait until there are 100 people. The data is already stored in Wikidata using existing properties, which is encouraged for small dataset like this. Midleading (talk) 02:42, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

- Not done due to lack of notable players. @Momiji-Penguin: you are welcome to re-open this proposal if and when the number of notable players exceed 100. Infrastruktur (talk) 21:59, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
