Motivation
[edit]A lot of Wikipedia articles have chord progression information, but it's really difficult to analyze it because it's not in Wikidata, and because it's not structured it's difficult to discern what roles chords play in those progressions. Jc86035 (talk) 12:00, 4 November 2018 (UTC)

Discussion
[edit]- Support This will only work for those which have a constant pattern though Germartin1 (talk) 19:45, 4 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Germartin1: Multiple values, time index (P4895) (by number of bars elapsed and by time elapsed), series ordinal (P1545). In theory you could also just create one item with the entire chord sequence of the song and use quantity (P1114) = 1 as a qualifier to the statement on the song's item(s), although maybe that would be copyrightable. (For specific chord sequences, especially ones with irregular chord duration, you could also use time index (P4895) to specify the duration of each chord, although there would need to be some sort of standardization for this or it would be impossible to interpret consistently.) - Support Excellent idea. It may also work for baroque & classical music. I guess at some point we would need some general support for musical data, for instance through some advanced lilypond integration, but Rome was not built in a day. Alexander Doria (talk) 00:22, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
