Data type | URL |
Domain | company, website, software, etc. |
Example 1 | GitHub (Q364) → https://help.github.com/en/articles/github-privacy-statement |
Example 2 | Google (Q95) → https://policies.google.com/privacy |
Example 3 | Microsoft (Q2283) → https://privacy.microsoft.com/zh-cn/privacystatement |
Expected completeness | always incomplete |
Motivation
[edit]Note there's some items (e.g. Uber privacy policy (Q59914866)) about individual privacy policies. We may either:
- Create two properties, one URL and one item
- Create only the URL property, link the item using statement is subject of (P805)
- Create only item property, create items for all individual privacy policies linked

Discussion
[edit]- Support Good idea, but how to resolve the language editions? Germartin1 (talk) 19:04, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

- Support I prefer the third option. This could allow multilingual editions: each item would have privacy policylanguage of work or name (P407)English (Q1860), or privacy policylanguage of work or name (P407)Spanish (Q1321) for language, privacy policypublication date (P577)01 jan 2019 for publication date, and so on. --Tinker Bell ★ ♥ 23:36, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

- I'm not sure about this. I don't like that we might end up generally mapping out all parts of individual websites across the internet. --Yair rand (talk) 23:56, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose the 3rd option - we don't need an individual item for each privacy policy. In my opinion we only need 1 property, the url, which would be added to the general item (Uber (Q780442)), since for items about privacy policies there is official website (P856) --DannyS712 (talk) 11:08, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
- Support for the idea of the property. The choice given after must be obvious. An Item created for the occasion is not necessary. An Item must follow the rules of Wikidata. So 1) two properties for one URL is too much. 3) Are "Privacy Policies" so important to create an element? Option 2 is the best, but use statement is subject of (P805) only if necessary (if the element exists): allowed qualifiers constraint (Q21510851) and suggestion constraint (Q62026391). With the idea of Tinker Bell and required qualifier constraint (Q21510856) and mandatory constraint (Q21502408) this time, for date and language. DannyS712, official website (P856) is of type URL, therefore, an Item can not be the value of this prop. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 21:06, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
- In fact, proposition 3 and 2 are so close that I'm going to create this Prop. For proposal 3, an Item must be part of the policies established for WD to be created. So if there is something that has escaped me, ping me ! —Eihel (talk) 21:32, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
