This page provides guidance for checks to do after uploads to Wikidata.

After uploading a series of statements or creating new items, it's generally useful to do a series of checks. Some should be done just after uploading, others later.

Occasionally, other contributors notice potential issues and bring them up on your talk page.

It can also be interesting to review how the items or dataset evolves within Wikidata, 6 months later, or a year later.

Directly after upload[edit]

  • check for constraint violations on Query Service[1]
  • double-check if Deduplication isn't needed
  • check the number of statements on newly created items, complete those with few statements
  • check labels of the items, do they meet Help:Label
  • consider adding descriptions to items
  • check what statements or properties could also be added in addition to items in the dataset
  • if notability issues about newly created items come up, consider listing them for deletion
  • consider creating and publishing queries about the dataset, e.g. by adding them to Wikidata:Status_updates/Next

6 months later[edit]
