From the proposal discussion[edit]
@Omert33, Danrok, ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2, ArthurPSmith, Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ), Pintoch:
In the property proposal discussion, I said:
- I note that, for example, the above deepakchopra link redirects to https://www.amazon.com/Deepak-Chopra/e/B004KNMPSI while on Amazon.co.uk, the equivalent is https://www.amazon.co.uk/Deepak-Chopra/e/B004KNMPSI, which have the string
Deepak-Chopra/e/B004KNMPSI
in common.
The proponent, Omert33, replied:
- Yes, Andy. I've noticed that too. I even think it's a better idea due to its public accessibility without the need to guess. I agree that it would be the better way of approaching it.
So I'm not sure why we have a property using the original format proposed. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:48, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
- Either works, but which format is most likely to still work, say, five years from now? How to know!? Danrok (talk) 12:20, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry about that Pigsonthewing, I overlooked this detail when creating the property. I have changed it to the format you suggest (with a tentative regex). Feel free to improve. − Pintoch (talk) 13:29, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
@Omert33, Danrok, ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2, ArthurPSmith, Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ), Pintoch: I've changed the formatter URL (P1630) completely so that the IDs are now much shorter. Thierry Caro (talk) 08:15, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
Music artists[edit]
This property also works with music artists. See MacKenzie Porter (Q15699484) where https://amazon.com/wd/e/B0714N15JN redirects to the Music page https://www.amazon.com/default/e/B0714N15JN?redirectedFromKindleDbs=true. Any thoughts on modifying the name of the property or adding an alias name of "Amazon artist page"?
--William Graham (talk) 15:02, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
- I'm going to rescind this suggestion because musician related links redirect to Amazon's Music Unlimited product. William Graham (talk) 20:02, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
extract pattern too broad[edit]
@Back ache: the match pattern also matches on some products that look like https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/video/detail/B0B6GM647T/ref=atv_dp_season_select_s3?language=en. It should of course Amazon Standard Identification Number (P5749) (i guess). can you please make the pattern more specific? – Shisma (talk) 10:10, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
