"association" vs "voluntary association"[edit]
@Hannolans: i quickly reverted your merge because different meanings/items were mixed up, at least for English/German meanings, and also because association (Q15911314) and voluntary association (Q48204) have thousands of Wikidata-internal links to them. Otherwise bots would automatically (but wrongly) change all the links to one item.
Of course it could be useful to check all sitelinks (which meaning is relevant in which case?) and to improve the two items and/or their connections. - Sorry, probably i was too fast with this merge as I did not dive into all the language differences and as the other German version was about the sociology when I checked they should have been mapped to the legal item. Site effect with a move is that we have to remap item by item or was i wrong and are those two different concepts of legal entities? --Hannolans (talk) 19:18, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Hannolans: i only noticed your changes because i monitor several items on dewiki (example). Unfortunately, i have no good overview of the various organisation/association items here. What i know is, that really many related items exist (=not only the 2 mentioned above), adn that many of them are similarly used (checking Special:WhatLinksHere before merging is often helpful). i also noticed a couple of inaccurate or misleading sitelinks (interwiki links) in the past. Overlaps in contents and between languages are common. So there is probably a large potential for structuring improvements (=a lot of work). If you would like to help in this Wikidata subsection, i assume it would be very welcome (see WikiProject Organizations, even though it looks rather inactive).
- answer to your question: as far i know, "Freiwillige Vereinigung" (de) and "voluntary association" (en) are identical, and should stay linked to each other. On the other hand, "Verband (Recht)" describes higher-level legal associations and their legal aspects. Holger1959 (talk) 04:09, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
