Scope[edit]

Archives should not be a subclass the "library" Q7075. Nowadays both types of organizations are differentiated in the literature and as well in practice.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by [[User:|?]] ([[User talk:|talk]] • contribs).

Parent classes[edit]

This item per its description is for a type of organization, and an organization is always different from venue(s) where it operates or from items that it keeps in its collections. venue (Q17350442) (@Davileci: diff) and work (Q386724) (@Luan: diff) as P279 values are in conflict with this and should probably be undone. Due to these parent classes individual archive organizations (may operate in multiple venues) are currently incorrectly classified also as indvidiaul venues and individual works. In case of venue you might be looking for archive building (Q635719) instead.

Neither is an organization quite the same as specialty or field of study that were recently added as P31 values (@AndrewEells: diff). Cf. archival science (Q380313). 2001:7D0:81DB:1480:31BE:9B5E:BED0:85AD 08:17, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
