Said to be the same as romper suit[edit]
I'm not sure about in other languages, but in American English a onesie (infant bodysuit) is distinct from a romper. A onesie / bodysuit is cut like underwear/ pants (high leg.) A romper is cut like shorts (elastic around the upper thigh). And a one-piece, sleep & play, or baby grow, has legs and a footie has feet. These are all similar garments but the name depends on how long the legs are, basically. So I wouldn't say they are the same, but rather are both a subclass of a one-piece.
