@Sigur: thanks for your note at [1]. It seems we probably have to split this item into two:

a. last name at birth
b. full name at birth

birth name (P1477) describes (b). The enwiki covers both. Some articles are about (a), but mention (b).

That split is one thing. But there are terms, like the listed German "Geburtsname" (which however currently is only a redirect on the German Wikipedia) that concern what you could sum up as "any surname you would have if it weren't for marriage, regardless of whether you already had it at birth or not". So, if you want to have an item actually describing what the words "surname at birth" strictly speaking mean in plain English (as opposed to in an ICCS convention) and nothing else, that would be a different item from the one you would need for "Geburtsname" (and some others - the Swiss notably call it more adequately "Ledigname" in German, "nom de célibataire" in French and "cognome da celibe" in Italian, which could be translated as "unmarried name").
