The reference for this being the correct name is: "Malva acerifolia (Cav.) Alef.". Plants of the World Online. Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Retrieved 2018-01-30.

That is a Single Point of View approach. Wikidata should at least be compatible with a NPoV approach (which is the exact opposite of SPoV).
  • "Malva acerifolia is the correct name" is an opinion (a taxonomic opinion), not a fact.
  • "The Plants of the World Online-website states that they judge that Malva acerifolia is an accepted species" is a fact, and can be included in Wikidata.

@Brya: I agree entirely that Wikidata should not take any position on what is the correct generic placement for a species. So, yes, the only correct statement that should be made is that POWO accepts "Malva acerifolia" as the correct name for this species. If you look at any of the enwiki taxon articles I edit you'll see that I am very keen that they should explicitly state who accepts names. Peter coxhead (talk) 07:20, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Very good, but in my experience there are many at enwiki who are violent adherents of the Single Point of View approach, so I added this comment to make sure this was clear. - Brya (talk) 03:57, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
