@OQZYwD0R: please give me an example when tournament is not sportive? If there is any, this item should be separated into 2... --Infovarius (talk) 13:58, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A chess tournament, any other game, Monopoly for example could have a tournament without being sports. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tournament OQZYwD0R (talk) 17:31, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@OQZYwD0R: Chess is a sport for sure. Monopoly (or a bridge, or What? Where? When? (Q2368645)/World Quizzing Championship (Q128067)) can be regarded as special sport when talking about tournaments and "professional" occupation. --Infovarius (talk) 11:29, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly some, perhaps all games can be considered a sports in some contexts, but I don't think that makes any and all instances of a game being played competitively a sporting endeavour. Saying tournaments are sporting competitions isn't wrong but it's also not totally correct, competitions certainly but going further than that feels wrong to me. I could better have said too strong an assertion rather than feeling wrong above. OQZYwD0R (talk) 18:19, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
