Why is this not a Property:P610 of anything? --Ysangkok (talk) 17:31, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

elevation above sea level[edit]

elevation above sea level - height of the item (geographical object) as measured relative to sea level. (geographical object)"Mount Everest" = 1) peak or 2) base? peak ≠ base. Its peak is 8,848 metres --Fractaler (talk) 09:04, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Time period Eocene[edit]

What does "time period Eocene" mean? I don't know how better to express the relation to Eocene. I'm interested in understanding (not just criticizing). - Trilotat (talk) 13:07, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Isolation should be N/A[edit]

Izolation was 40008 METRES which is completely incorrect. I have changed it to 40008 km which is little but more logical as is is the maximum value of the property allowed. I t should however be NOTDEFINED or defined as N/A if possible. It is correctly done on the wikipedia page about the property en:Topographic isolation and it is also loggical, because the definition of the property is: "minimum distance to a point of equal elevation", but there is not ANY point of the equal elevation to Everest on whole Earth. --Gorn (talk) 22:06, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Gorn: If you’re correct, you can use no value Help (see the linked help). author  TomT0m / talk page 13:23, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That actually is a great idea. However the limits for value should allow that, should not they? Currently the values are numeric. Gorn (talk) 20:56, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I suppose we could have both and rank as preferred whatever is the preferred method. @CXuesong: --- Jura 09:16, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the heads-up Jura. I was removing the claim as it looks confusing to have both "no value" and a value under the same property. I should have checked the talk page first. --CXuesong (talk)

I set it to "no value". By defintion the isolation can not be measured to itself and giving the equatorial distance is stupid. JSoos (talk) 10:53, 29 March 2021 (UTC) @Jura1: Please explain why the equatorial distance vs N/A is better. Thanks. JSoos (talk) 10:58, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have no preference on which one is "better" or "stupid". Clearly both values have to be considered. I let you set ranks you prefer for each value. --- Jura 11:03, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Could you prove that both value is "clearly" must be considered, where is it come from? Where is it anywhere written that isolation for the highest peak can be measured to itself? I think it is clear by definition it MUST not be any value. The main problem is, that ranking does not help on the Wikipage, showing this stupid value. JSoos (talk) 11:15, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The property was proposed under that assumption and Wikipedia used to include it. If you think it's completely wrong, you can set it to deprecated rank. --- Jura 11:29, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Do not apply English to a Chinese/Nepalese item[edit]

@Do not follow: This is not English Wiktionary, and English is neither an official language in China nor in Nepal, where Qomolangma is located in. Please stop being chauvinist and force English etymology into Tibetan (China) and Sherpa (Nepal) Wikidata items. I should talk to you in Tibetan/Sherpa/Chinese/Nepali here but I assume you don't understand those language, so as a courtesy I wrote English here. --146.95.196.222 01:17, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NYC IP address, if you are adding additional information, simply use appropriate qualifiers and do not delete other information. Otherwise, your edits can be considered as vandalism. --Jklamo (talk) 07:41, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jklamo:
  1. You'd better stop insulting any "delete other information"-action as "vandalism". This is very impolite and inapporperate. By undoing my edits, you yourself has deleted tremendous information associated to Q513, so you should call yourself a Vandal first.
  2. I didn't not delete any relevant information except for the en-name "Mt. Everest" because "Mount Everest" is already included and an abbreviation is duplicate. If you disagree with this move, feel free to add "Mt. Everest" back but if you do that, I will add "Mt. Qomolangma", "Mt. Chomulangma", "Mt. Zhumulangma" and "Mt. Chomulungma" into English names as well for the same criteria.
  3. This data item is about the mountain - its geography, cultural reference, etc., any offtopic information not directly associated to it should not be moved to corresponding items and not be here. --146.95.196.222 01:18, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Basque (Euskara) description improvement[edit]

Description in Basque (Euskara) sould be: "Lurreko mendirik altuena". Translation (eus→en): "Hightest mountain on Earth". Same text in Euskara: Euskarazko deskribapenaren aldaketa proposamena: lurreko mendirik altuena.

Many thanks in advance. Urkiurmo (talk) 00:24, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
