Characteristic number across languages[edit]
The naming of this item does not seem to be consistent across languages: We now have Wikipedia links to articles about the right concept (as far as I can tell - either by the text or by the presence of a list of examples like the Reynolds number Re).
- Yet, for instance the German article is called "dimensionslose Kennzahl", which I'd understand as "dimensionless characteristic number". This is redundant, given that a number is already "dimensionless". ("Dimensionless" typically applies to quantities, where a quantity is a tuple consisting of a number and a unit - in the case of a "dimensionless" quantity the unit is one.)
- The Catalan article is named "constant física adimensional", meaning literally "dimensionless physical constant". But characteristic numbers (which this that article is actually referring to) are not constants in the sense of having a fixed value like the speed of light.
