Stuff[edit]

So is this better or Template:SPARQL?

AFAIK, WDQ is no more, so the reference to WDQ should be removed from the template documentation. --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 17:18, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

this one is far more suggestive and provides links to items and properties. d1g (talk) 11:35, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Outer box[edit]

Could another outer box please be wrapped around the entire template? It really does not blend well into discussion flow the way it is now. Thanks! SharkD (talk) 15:28, 4 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@SharkD: suggest your CSS style d1g (talk) 08:52, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@SharkD: second ping (first didn't work) d1g (talk) 08:54, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

{{SPARQL2|nohints| not {{SPARQL2|nohints=nohints|

{{SPARQL2|nohints|query=...}} Not sure why it doesn't work d1g (talk) 08:58, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Changes on this template can affect proper parsing of the SPARQL example page at query.wikidata.org[edit]

@D1gggg: the changes you made broke the parsing of the example page at query.wikidata.org.

I am going to revert your changes, until we have the code deployed that can properly parse your changes to the template.

Sorry for the inconvenience --Jonas Kress (WMDE) (talk) 11:13, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done the revert has been reverted again. --Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 20:01, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE): wasn't too long, thanks! d1g (talk) 06:53, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

one more parameter[edit]

  • "display query" should used for syntax highlighting, while
  • "executable query" or "complete query" should be used for everything

Long code examples could be reduced to key points, but this would break executable query. But we can have both in principle. d1g (talk) 15:25, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is very usefull when explaining or discussing very lengthy queries over and over. d1g (talk) 15:27, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

 Oppose – running a different query than the one displayed is bound to be extremely confusing. If you want to discuss a long query in parts, you can use <syntaxhighlight lang="sparql"> instead of this template – individual parts of a query don’t need to be runnable. --TweetsFactsAndQueries (talk) 19:41, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

drop "The following query uses these:"[edit]

when nothing is used d1g (talk) 19:56, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I propose adding an option for hiding that line. Some users might want to use this template for highlighting specific lines of a SPARQL query and they might also want to hide the information shown below "The following query uses these:". In such scenarios, this line provide no information, so it is useless to show it.
