Acting in the role of a metadata analyst at Rice University's Fondren Library, I am exploring ways of bringing the data in our collections to WikiData. My background is in library and information science focusing in archives and special collections. I believe there is a fair amount of data we have already built in our systems that could be added to the benefit of WikiData.

Conflict of Interest Statement

While most of this applies to Wikipedia, I think there are still lessons that can be used for WikiData.

I have read the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest page and decided I should make a statement to address any COI concerns which should arise. I am currently working in Fondren Library's cataloging and metadata services department. I may, from time to time, contribute content from the library's holdings, or the library itself, to appropriate pages. I will strive to conform to the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:No_original_research, and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability standards to the best of my ability. I do not believe there will be any conflicts, but should any questions arise about potential COIs I am more than willing to discuss them, and if asked, recuse myself from the conflict. In cases where there may be a conflict I pledge to request edits on the Talk page rather than directly edit the page.
