All information in Wikidata (and similar knowledge databases) is stored in triples (statements), consisting of:

  1. subject (item)
  2. predicate (property)
  3. object (value)

In Wikidata statements can also be annotated with qualifiers, references and ranks.

Wikidata can be queried with the RDF Query Language SPARQL through the Wikidata Query Service (WDQS).

While properties can be annotated to be transitive or inverse, this information does not affect querying.
