Summary by EpochFail

When I edit from EpochFail, I'm not acting in a staff capacity.

Wikidata and WMF staff

Hi EpochFail,

Have you been asked internally by WMF to comment here? Can you clarify your mandate when commenting here in relation to WMF and detail your relevant experience with Wikidata?

Hi Jura. What? Are you asking me to justify my presence on Wikidata? But that'd be super weird and inappropriate! Maybe you are just asking if I am acting in a staff capacity? I am not acting as a representative of the Wikimedia Foundation when I edit from this account. --EpochFail (talk) 14:49, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
Just realized I hadn't enabled Flow and did it. Sorry to move us to User talk:EpochFail/Archive 1. Feel free to restart this conversation on the Flow board if you like -- or I'll be happy to continue conversing here. --EpochFail (talk)
Jura1, I've just now had a chance to see the comments you have been making at Wikidata talk:Item quality and I think that some of them are highly aggressive and inappropriate. If you don't want to work with us, that's OK. Please consider whether or not you'd like to defend your comments to an admin later before responding again. Remember that there's no staff exception when it comes to being nice to people and assuming good-faith. --EpochFail (talk) 16:41, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Just to clarify your role in this: are you commenting here as a member of staff or in a private capacity?

EpochFail (talkcontribs)

It seems this has been clarified above.

Jura1 (talkcontribs)

Good point.

Have you been asked through WMF email to comment on Wikidata or are you doing this from WMF office?

EpochFail (talkcontribs)

This is a false dichotomy. Neither is true.

Jura1 (talkcontribs)

Is the quality question or Wikidata in general in any way related to paid work you do for WMF?

EpochFail (talkcontribs)

I think I've made myself very clear and I would appreciate if you would stop interrogating me. This is starting to feel a bit like harassment.

Jura1 (talkcontribs)

It just helps me (and possibly others) better understand what staff members do around this website, what WMF expects from them and what the community can expect from them. It might also help the community clarify what basic training we might want to expect from members of staff about the various WMF websites. This has no relation to you specifically. I don't really see how you may feel harassed if you are being asked about your contribution to WMF when discussing related topics.

You did say that you didn't post as a member of staff, but from both accounts it's not entirely clear if this is different from work WMF pays you to do. Can you clarify? (or link the place were I should have read the answer?).

Jura1 (talkcontribs)

I don't think it answers it, but apparently you feel disrupted by the discussion of contributions that seems to be linked to your paid work for WMF and you seem to revert users who disagree with you.

EpochFail (talkcontribs)

Please cease with this poking before I pull an admin here to force you to stop.
