Merging items[edit]

Hi, I saw that you have merged many items, thanks for it. However it is easier to do with the merge gadget. Gadget also has possibility to request a deletion for those items which will be empty after merging. --Stryn (talk) 07:08, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for the info. I'll check it out--Bioneer1 (talk) 19:51, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It would be nice if you did and especially if you would take care for redirecting the merge source to the merge target as well. Thank you! Kind regards, Lymantria (talk) 05:24, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Estopedist, just removed the etwiki entry (Kaltsiferoolid) in Q12366257 and then merged it into Q175621 using the tool. Was that an example you asked for? - сyсn - (talkcontribslogs) 08:31, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I do not know what is the practice in the Wikidata? Maybe it is better just to delete the Q12366257 and adding "Kaltsiferoolid" to the section called "Also known as"--Estopedist1 (talk) 08:40, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agreed with that, but then there was a vote and it was decided to not to delete any more but create redirect in these cases. "Kaltsiferoolid" should now be listed as alias in Estonian for Q175621 as a result of the merging action. - сyсn - (talkcontribslogs) 10:33, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ehitismälestis[edit]

Hi! We undid the merge of architectural monument (Q12361770) because that item on WD refers very specifically to the official concept of ehitismälestis in Estonia, but I've moved the etwiki link back to architectural heritage monument (Q811165) since that does seem to be more general :) --Reosarevok (talk) 18:02, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I see you undid the change on https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q811165&oldid=prev&diff=617160645 - that's fine actually, if the labels do apply also to the more generic item :) So nevermind! --Reosarevok (talk) 18:09, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Estopedist1, a comment on Special:Diff/1312853733: I strongly recommend to transclude the script from its original location using mw.loader.load( '//www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=User:Matěj_Suchánek/patrolRevisions.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript', 'text/javascript' ); // [[User:Matěj Suchánek/patrolRevisions.js]] in User:Estopedist1/common.js instead of the actual code of the script. English | español | français | Nederlands | русский | +/−

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our gift is better than the one at Commons or Meta)

Here's your badge: {{User admin}}/{{#babel:admin}} and {{Admin topicon}}. Enjoy!

Congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Wikidata. Please take a moment to read the Wikidata:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Wikidata:Project chat, Wikidata:Requests for comment, and Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikidata-adminconnect. If you need access, you can flag someone down at #wikidataconnect. You may find Wikidata:Guide to Adminship to be useful reading. You may also want to consider adding yourself to meta:Template:Wikidata/Ambassadors, and to any similar page on your home wiki if one exists. (Check Wikipedia:Wikidata/Wikidatans (Q14964498).)

Please also add/update the languages you speak to your listing at Wikidata:List of administrators and Wikidata:Administrators/Timeline. You may also like to add your username to this list if you would not like that items you delete at RfD get marked as deleted automatically. Again, welcome to the admin corps!

Communication to new users[edit]

Dear @Estopedist1 first congratulations on becoming a Wikidata administrator! Hope you will not stop learning about good wiki practices and advancing your own practice. If I may be free to suggest some social skill that would be to care a bit more when you are deleting work of new users and make extra effort to explain what and why are you doing. I am writing this as I noticed this and it made me think about how this 'efficient' deletion is cryptic and unfriendly to people who just joined the project like in this case https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q113835785&action=edit&redlink=1

Procedural oppose[edit]

Hi, you sometimes use procedural oppose – is this a rule or convention that I’m not familiar with? --Emu (talk) 16:10, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Emu it is in use e.g. in Commons, e.g. Commons:Commons:Categories for discussion/2018/12/Category:Squares in the Philippines. Maybe there is concrete term to describe similar situations Estopedist1 (talk) 18:38, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Well, I have to say, I’m not too happy about it since it shifts the burden from item creators to RfD reporters. After all, in my mind the mere facts that there are other not notable items in itself does not provide even tentative notability to another item … --Emu (talk) 19:26, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Emu but "procedural oppose" is useful because then all similar (problematic, not notable) items will be deleted via bulk deletion request, not via e.g. six standalone RFD. I rather recommend more holistic view, but I if others think otherwise, then I don't use "procedural oppose" anymore Estopedist1 (talk) 19:48, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • It extends a general knowledge base for the world at large. Do you doubt this statement?
  • It refered to an instance of a clearly identifiable material entity. Do you doubt this statement? If so, I ask for a short explanation why they think the item is not clearly identifiable.
  • The entity was notable, in the sense that it can be described using serious and publicly available references. To describe a court as not serious is just absurd. The registry courts must have fulfilled their inspection obligations before making an entry in the register. The registry court thus acts as an independent third party by carrying out those checks before publishing those data. Do you doubt this statement?

user:Emu could you help with this? Quite German-specific--Estopedist1 (talk) 19:01, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Estopedist1 Granpar seems to argue that an entry in the w:de:German Commercial Register is sufficient for notability. I don’t think so. Every company in Germany can, many companies have to register their company with the courts. This would effectively mean that most if not all German companies would be notable per se. I don’t think that WD:N #2 should be understood in that way (although there are some who consider every person in the telephone book to be notable). But I’ll ping @MisterSynergy, Ameisenigel: for another two pairs of eyes familiar with Germany. --Emu (talk) 19:19, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I do agree that this is not sufficient for inclusion. Listings in Handelsregister are a formal procedure; it is not organic content by an independent third-party about the entity in question. Be also aware of Wikidata:What Wikidata is not which claims: Wikidata is not … "a place for self-promotion, or advertising/marketing", and "White or Yellow Pages".
On a side note, not decisive here: there has been Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot/Handelsregister a while ago, proposing an import of all entities from Handelsregister. It has not been done for several reasons. —MisterSynergy (talk) 19:37, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@MisterSynergy
The registry courts must have fulfilled their inspection obligations before making an entry in the register. The registry court thus acts as an independent third party by carrying out those checks before publishing those data. The item I created is not self-promotion or advertising on my part. Wikidata claims to serve as a general knowledge base for the world at large. Granpar (talk) 13:11, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Handelsregister data is quite trustworthy due to the way how it is gathered—but this is not the issue. The listing is simply there because the company exists, not because Handelsregister thinks it is an important company that should be listed. This is the crucial aspect about "serious sources" that you are missing here (admittedly, it is not explicitly written in WD:N, but common practice here).
We do not have capacities to host data items about everything that is verifiable. There are both technical and social constraints that prevent us from doing so. —MisterSynergy (talk) 13:41, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@MisterSynergy Oh, the hard disks are full. Where can I find the verifiable level indicator? Granpar (talk) 13:34, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Handelsregister itself does not establish notability from my point of view. Even very small companies can be listed there. --Ameisenigel (talk) 22:42, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ameisenigel
Where exactly does WD:N say that very small businesses are excluded? Granpar (talk) 13:04, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It does not say something like that. Small companies can be notable if there are other serious sources. But the Handelsregister can include more or less every company, so this is not enough to say that a company is notable. --Ameisenigel (talk) 18:34, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ameisenigel WD:N says: The entity must be notable, in the sense that it can be described using serious and publicly available references. A Handelsregister is serious an publicly available. Where do you see a problem? Granpar (talk) 13:31, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
references: You need multiple references, not only one (like the Handelsregister). --Ameisenigel (talk) 13:42, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That’s debatable. I tend to not consider the Handelsregister to be “serious” in the sense of WD:N because while it is very trustworthy, it doesn’t have selectivity. But apart from minor semantic differences, we seem to agree that this item simply isn’t notable. If Granpar is unhappy about this, they might want to change the notability guidelines. It might be a good idea to start with a good use case to show why this item is useful for Wikidata (and not just the user or some abstract philosophical dwellings), not just insisting on some interpretation of words that can’t be interpreted without context and a look on current practice. --Emu (talk) 17:19, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ameisenigel Do you confuse references with sources? References do not necessarily must have multiple sources. At least that is not what is being demanded here. Granpar (talk) 17:58, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Q115116313 and Q115116376[edit]

Hi. You declined the deletion as it linked to something else. All of those articles are up for speedy deletion and just not yet actioned, numbers have been already from the string of articles all created as a conflict of interest. All part of the same xwiki abuse, please put the deletion request back into the mix and keep it on hold while those wikis do their work and address the issue.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:20, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Billinghurst (speedy) deletion from smaller and even bigger Wikipedias may take months. So we just clean up our RFD noticeboard if item has sitelink(s). Please re-nominate once the articles are deleted from all Wikipedias Estopedist1 (talk) 18:57, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand your intention to keep WD:RFD free from problems we can’t solve on our own. But maybe we could find a way to establish a (semi-automatic) queue? One possibility would be to create statements that show that an admin thinks that an item wouldn’t be notable without a sitelink to a project that has problems with enforcing notability … --Emu (talk) 21:38, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Emu I know that we already have a bot-created database report for items which sitelink(s) has recently deleted (id est the article in a Wikipedia is deleted). But I am unable to find this report straightaway Estopedist1 (talk) 06:51, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe there is the means to create an "on hold" subpage where a review by admins means that it can be put for a period of say 3 months, and after that it can be processed. If a wiki hasn't deleted in that time I think that there is a case that they don't consider it actionable. I know that has a global GS that I can process pages suitable where that right exists. Expecting someone to track spammy creations for months {{Delete}} requests at small to medium-sized wikis is unreasonable when your processes set us up for fail. I would personally think that if you are going to insist upon that then I will just remove all the links here so the articles are completely detached from WD.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:30, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Three months won’t be enough for some smaller wikis. w:vo:W. Flatz took almost six months and that’s a case where no spammer succeeded in deleting the RfD. --Emu (talk) 16:13, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Export of Data?[edit]

Hey Estopedist1,

Recently two of my Wikidata entries were deleted (I get why, not complaining) and I was wondering if there is a way to get those deleted entries exported somehow? For instance, if the pages were live, I could go to Special:Export, and then import those xml files into my wikibase.

I am in the process of setting up my own Mediawiki and Wikibase and would like to import, the exported data from those two entries, if possible.

If I was paying attention, I would have exported them before they were deleted.

I hope this makes sense, the two articles are... Q112038248 and Q112033143.

@Dimitripl I don't have any email. And it is much better if you add suitable sources in this talk page, not somewhere else (like on email). If info is here, other administrators can also see and evaluate the situation Estopedist1 (talk) 11:46, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The email was sent in reply to Ticket#2023020310014665 to info@wikidata.org at 10:14 / 11 feb 2023 - Thanks Dimitripl (talk) 20:44, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you are well. Please kindly take the appropriate time to read my email linked to the deleted page Q116282558.
I can re-confirm that I match the notability criteria you pointed out as the reason for the deletion of my page.
1 - At the time you deleted my pages and assets, I had one valid site link to a page on Wiki Commons (to date, it is not the case for the profiles you pointed out as valid).
2 - I refer to an instance of an identifiable conceptual entity that can be described using serious and publicly available references.
- Founder of a Japanese NPO that supported 3.11 refugees (Fukushima Future)
- Blogger and member of various tech communities.
- Digital product manager with over 10 years of experience in the life sciences industry.
- Etc...
3 - the page you deleted fulfilled structural needs, had a lot of different properties, and was edited in various languages by multiple users on top of this.
Regarding the brief confirmation you provided of those users matching the notability criteria, please develop why.
For instance, the team confirmed this user matched the criteria: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q45580503.
Let me know why this user matches the main notability criteria, please. Thank you Dimitripl (talk) 23:41, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dimitri Pletschette is also mentioned in l'Alsace back in 2011 https://fr-fr.facebook.com/Fukushima.Future/photos/a.160130937395644/160502704025134/?type=3&theater (listed sources above).

Block of Antandrus[edit]

Hi. It seems that you have blocked Antandrus as an LTA. I believe that you may have blocked the wrong user, as Antandrus is certainly not an LTA; he is a sysop on multiple wikis, including the English Wikipedia, and has been one of the main people dealing with the WMF-banned LTA who has been targeting Wikidata lately. extended filesystem[edit]

Es geht um die Änderungen zu ext1 und dem Artikel in der deutschen WP über die gesamte extended-filesystem-Serie bei Wikidata. Bitte de:Diskussion:Extended filesystem#Englischen Artikel verlinken dazu lesen. Danke. ‣Andreas 21:02, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Y2kbug: sorry, I cannot speak/understand German to participate in this discussion. Pinging user:KolAflash. If you will find solution in dewiki, then please maybe anyone can present it in English, so we can fulfill it in Wikidata Estopedist1 (talk) 21:22, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay.
What it says is the following:
  • The en:Extended file system is specifically only about the first extended filesystem, also known as ext (or ext1). German: de:ext1 (a redirection, there is no separate article, it would be too short).
  • Then we have en:ext2, which is in german de:ext2,
  • and en:ext3de:ext3,
  • and en:ext4de:ext4.
  • But, in the german Wikipedia, we have an article about the whole ext-family called de:extended filesystem. It is about ext, ext2, ext3 and ext4, its history and similarities. To my knowledge there is no such article in the english Wikipedia.
Hence the discussion (in german). I think the Wikidata was correct before, because now the en:ext1 links to the de:ext_family, which is wrong.
Andreas 21:34, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will wait the response by user:KolAflash who arised the question at Wikidata:Administrators'_noticeboard#Link_"Extended_file_system"_to_German_article. If no response, then I will revert my actions Estopedist1 (talk) 21:46, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Y2kbug I rather would say that enwiki en:Extended file system is also an overall article, although focused on ext1 Estopedist1 (talk) 06:43, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'd beg to differ. It clearly says "Other extended file systems" and lists ext2/3/4, so if those are other extended filesystems, then this article is only about the one. And when I read "In 1993, it was superseded by both ext2 and Xiafs ..." then this makes it even more clear that it's about ext (or ext1).
In the german Wikipedia I used the title "extended filesystem" for all of them, because it is often called that as a series, and there clearly are compatibilities. But the english article doesn't do that at all, IMHO.
Andreas 14:58, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Y2kbug: sorry, mate! I think that enwiki en:Extended file system should also be a container article which gives overview of ext1, ext2 ext3 etc., like dewiki de:extended filesystem already does. Estopedist1 (talk) 16:22, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I get that. And I think so too, but currently it doesn't. ‣Andreas 19:54, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Estonian elements[edit]

Tere,

because Estonian is your native language, I appeal to you for help in trying to connect with a user who is making one-sided edits.

There is an Estonian based IP (several rotating IPs) that systematically delete properties P131 and P625 of items that are located in Estonia. This person has a persistence to use the property P159 and deletes P131 and P625. On my user page you can see the arguments for both.

I ask for your cooperation so that I can explain to him/her to permit both properties and to prevent further deletion of these properties that make Estonian elements invisible. Tänan Teid, Madamebiblio (talk) 16:52, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake on Apusomonadida[edit]

Hello Estopedist1, I saw your reversion and your comment on my talk page. I would like to explain why my edit is constructive in my opinion: Apusomonadida is not an instance of a scolarly article, it is not something written that can be read, but a group of microorganisms. This is why I tried to change its instance value from "scholarly article" to "taxon". If I am mistaken, please do tell me, because I am completely new to Wikidata and frankly it is quite overwhelming! I'm never sure if I'm doing things right here. Thanks for reaching out. Snoteleks (talk) 13:43, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Snoteleks for the taxon, we have Apusomonadida (Q4782334): order of micro-organisms. The item in question (i.e. Apusomonadida (Q54513413): scholarly article) is about the scholarly article Estopedist1 (talk) 13:56, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Had to regain global maintainer rights[edit]

Hi. Global abusefilter maintainer is an annual allocation and mine had expired (there is no reminder), and I had top step through the processes to regain it.

With abuse filters aimed at LTAs, eg. /210, putting long term or permanent blocks based on that filter is not the best idea. The idea is to be an impediment to the LTA using dynamic IP rotation to prevent that first edit, as they go to the next IP address quickly. If there is the need for a longer term block, then it is better for that to be done purposely by an admin, not be the AF. My reasoning is that any false positives wear off quickly.  — billinghurst sDrewth 02:42, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Billinghurst: it is hard to fully understand this comment due to difficult English language. However, I guess that nowadays VPN services allow you so much different IPs that it is hard to see any IP rotation (maybe user:Bovlb knows better). GRP should be a proof for it. No Wikimedia project can get rid of GRP. Any AF can be beat very easily, if you know the Wikisystems. As I am already said, I think there are two possibilities: en:MAC filtering, or blocking all IP edits Estopedist1 (talk) 05:37, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Don't fuss LTAs. Don't feed the trolls.  — billinghurst sDrewth 09:42, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that this LTA appears to have access to a large number of IPs, but the pool can't be infinite. From my analysis of the logs:
  • It seems to take them about 40 seconds to change IP. This isn't a huge time, but filter blocks are obviously slowing them down a bit.
  • Sometimes it takes them two or three as long to change IP. My inference is that they're hitting blocked IPs.
  • Often a series of filter blocks ends when they find a way to evade the filter, but also they often seem to give up.
  • In several cases, they reused the same IP after a gap of months.
  • I have not seen any useful contributions from those IPs. I have found some apparently unrelated vandalism and low-quality edits.
  • Some of the IPs they use cluster into subnets that have no other contributions.
So I think it is useful to apply filter blocks. They generally have a low false positive rate, although we seem to have seen more of those recently. I wish we had better tools for testing filters.
I love to try to engage with problem users and try to turn them around, but I think it's pointless in this case.
For the future, I would love it if we could use MAC address filtering. I have no idea if anyone is actually working on this.
I have some ideas about how we might use genetic programming to address some of these LTAs, but that's very much a work in progress.
The best option, unfortunately, seems to be intervention by local authorities. My understanding is that we know the identity of this LTA. Surely there's something useful that the foundation's legal team could be doing to help us here.
Regarding the blocking of IP edits, there has already been a lot of discussion about the pros and cons of that. I'm still stuck on the fact that it would prevent us from fulfilling our mandate with respect to client projects. I could support a throttle on how many items an IP could create in a day, but that's not relevant to this LTA.
I'm glad someone at Wikidata is signing up for meta:Abuse filter maintainers. I had such a bad experience the last time I applied for global permissions that I cannot recommend it to anyone. Meta permissions seems to be a clique-based process-violating mess of poor communication.
Bovlb (talk) 17:48, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Slaporte (WMF): Is WMF Legal able to do anything to help us out here? This LTA is a significant drain on volunteer time across multiple projects. If their location and identity are known, why can't we get a restraining order or something? See en:WP:LTA/GRP for some of the background here. Bovlb (talk) 19:09, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please unblock urgently[edit]

Dear Estopedist1,

You blocked User:LiaAve for two weeks on Wikidata, but you also blocked the IP 81.16.8.34 for a day. However, it should be mentioned that we have an ongoing Wikicamp during which more than 40 people use this IP address which you have blocked. This means that all these people cannot participate in the wiki workshops because of the blocked IP. If it is possible, please at least unblock the IP address so that the WikiCamp participants can continue their activities.--Beko (talk) 18:14, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Estopedist1: It turns out that because LiaAve used this IP address, IP 81.16.8.34 was autoblocked for a day. Is there any other way to unblock it?
Since you indicated this was urgent I took the liberty of changing the block. The autoblock seems to have disappeared as well. Does it work on your end now? Infrastruktur (talk) 19:34, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

IP range calculator[edit]

A single-device IPv6 range does not call for the use of a calculator. You can remove the rightmost four groups (that's exactly half of the address). Then you add a second colon and a "/64" for the prefix range. The double-colon represents any number of zeros in a consecutive sequence. In the case of "2607:fb91:22c7:9b3:ac39:b712:b3e7:cbce", you would cut it down to "2607:fb91:22c7:9b3:", and then add the rest: "2607:fb91:22c7:9b3::/64" There are no bitwise operations necessary to go from a fully-specified /128 to this sort of /64. It's always on a colon boundary.

Be mindful that sometimes zeroes are collapsed into a double-colon already, though; there can only be one double-colon in an IPv6 address. For example, "2607:fb91::9b3:ac39:b712:b3e7:cbce" is the same as "2607:fb91:0000:9b3:ac39:b712:b3e7:cbce". You would transform this to "2607:fb91:0:9b3::/64" because the RHS 64-bits which you're zeroing are the longest sequence of zeroes.

Q116697[edit]

Hi. This element was created about Wikimedia disambiguation pages, not about surnames. I think it would be nice to recreate this version here and create a new last name element. You ask, why don't I just do it myself? because I see your edits here and because if I create a new element, I will write the last name only in 5 languages, and now there are 8. Thanks for the answer. Бучач-Львів (talk) 09:48, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Бучач-Львів: I am not sure, therefore I don't take any action. As you can see dewiki, then all surname articles are categorized like "Begriffsklärung" (disambiguation page or DAB), but actually these dewiki articles are not DABs, but surname articles Estopedist1 (talk) 10:36, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
but, as far as I know, for the rules there should be one element about the surname, and another about the Wikimedia disambiguation pages? --Бучач-Львів (talk) 10:56, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nosileytis[edit]

Hello. Thank you for taking action regarding my request at AN. Saw you merged this item, but I think a deletion would be better, since the Greek depiction for nurse is nosileftis, with an f. Thank you in advance. 2A02:85F:F0EF:BE56:DD10:DA30:C344:CDD8 07:47, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

we merge items if concept is same. You can correct Greek label if needed Estopedist1 (talk) 09:39, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting and patrolling edits[edit]

Hello! I see that when you block a vandal, you state that all edits have been reverted and patrolled. Is there a tool to do this mass reversal and patrolling, or do you just go through their contributions and use rollback? I'm asking because this Venezuelan IP user usually has over 200 edits by the time we notice, so I'm wondering if there is an easier way to roll back their edits. Thank you! :) –FlyingAce✈hello 21:08, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@FlyingAce: good question. I am doing it manually, i.e. going through their contributions and use rollback. Probably, there is no better way. But if the topic is interesting for you, then I recommend to ask this question in enwiki, how they deal with hardcore vandals and do they use mass-rollback somehow Estopedist1 (talk) 04:11, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure there is a mass rollback script in enwiki. I'll ask around and see what I can find out :) –FlyingAce✈hello 05:04, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Estopedist1,

if this is Mathieu Desnoyers please restore this item. He has made scientific contributions (IEEE ID) but would also be notable solely by his Linux kernel and tools contributions (LWN search - please enter his name).

Thanks in advance.-- U. M. Owen (talk) 11:34, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@U. M. Owen it was about Jérémie Galarneau, kanadischer Software-Entwickler Estopedist1 (talk) 06:02, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
May you please tell me the former labels of the other deleted items of this user? It seems to be that they have been deleted without comment, making it difficult for me to find Mathieu Desnoyers and Babeltrace.--U. M. Owen (talk) 09:21, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@U. M. Owen: I restored:

Transphobia. Deadnames are NOT relevant information.[edit]

Please confirm the deletion of this information at Sohpie's page for her deadname. It is not only not useful nor relevant but also transphobic and out of place to keep reverting this change. Badapplefromthefuture (talk) 22:14, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Badapplefromthefuture: same topic already under discussion at Talk:Q18161827 Estopedist1 (talk) 05:49, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Genshin[edit]

There is a user (or users) with some sort of beef regarding Genshin Impact (Q65059474) – the main item does not seem to be too affected, but you can see the history of controversies surrounding Genshin Impact (Q121815942) or Furina (Q122582963), for instance. There has also been a lot of xwiki harassment (see almost all of my deletion log); at this point, whenever I see similar edits I just go straight to the stewards.

That being said, I am not entirely sure that the IP being reported on AN is the same user – all of the abuse has come from open proxies/hosting providers, while this is not... haven't got time to dig deeper yet. :( –FlyingAce✈hello 04:55, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked edition[edit]

Please allow the removal and edition of Sophie's spanish entry for deadname. This is vandalism and you can't just block us to edit what is absolutely a transphobic mention. Yes, there is a discussion already ongoing, but you blocked it. Please unblock it. Thank you. Badapplefromthefuture (talk) 22:50, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Badapplefromthefuture: please use {{Edit request}} at item's talk page, so everyone can see it in Category:Wikidata protected edit requests Estopedist1 (talk) 05:39, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Undeletion request (Q110399875)[edit]

Hey Estopedist1,

Thanks for notifying me but at the very least you could've given me more than 15 seconds to review it and add any missing information before deleting it... That item is used in OpenStreetMap (via the Name Suggestion Index) to identify that particular brand. Can you restore it? Thank you in advance. Dimitar999 (talk) 07:31, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dimitar999: My nomination, but deleted by @Ymblanter Estopedist1 (talk) 07:42, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I restored the item, but currently it does not show notability, and was last edited a month ago. Ymblanter (talk) 10:51, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
