Flood Flag Request

Hello, I'd like to request -again- a flooder flag so I can make batch edits using Quick Statements without flooding Recent changes page or Watchlists, most of my edits are specially Arabic descriptions, about 300k descriptions are to come, beside many other descriptions currently in deep revision. You don't need to code anything. It would be sufficient if you create a separate (bot) account and apply for a bot flag at Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot. This should be rather straightforward with your edit history. You can then log in with the bot account in your browser (or better a second, different browser) and use QuickStatements and all the other tools with the bot account, just as you use your regular account right now. All your edits would then have a bot flag and could be hidden by users on their watchlists. —MisterSynergy (talk) 20:02, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

If I am the same person who will run both accounts manually, why to create a bot account and not giving a flood flag to one account? Also I noticed other users who make mass contributions using their accounts using patches like QuickStatement and PetScan, please clarify the difference.

If I'm going to make the contributions in a specific period, from date to date, is it OK to request a flood flag then?

• The flood flag is for temporary activity only, whilst the bot flag is permanent for batch editing on a specific task. Your edit behavior meanwhile clearly falls into the latter category.
• If you had a permanent flood flag on your account, nobody would see your regular discussion edits any longer. It is advisible to separate the batch editing from manual editing and discussions.
• Other users use batch tool such as QuickStatements and PetScan as well, but they don’t do it as excessively as you do. If they do, they are supposed to use a bot account as well.
