XLDB 2017

Hello,

On October 12th, there will be a Wikidata hackathon at XLDB2017. More than 45 participants are expected. The following Wikidata contributors will lead the hackathon:

Can we be added to the Account creators group, please?

Thanks, — Envlh (talk) 09:38, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

Bureaucrats can't grant this right at Wikidata, see Special:ListGroupRights. Perhaps you could place your request at meta:Steward requests/Permissions. Lymantria (talk) 14:25, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for you reply! I made a request there. — Envlh (talk) 10:00, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
Perhaps we should submit a request to change the configuration. We are a big enough wiki so we should be able to handle these changes ourselves. --Rschen7754 18:02, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
Not a bad idea, but we likely need an RfC for that.--Ymblanter (talk) 20:39, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
I've granted them 4 all account creator permissions until 2017-10-14 per the request at Meta-Wiki and Ajraddatz's endorsement there. As for letting local bureaucrats manage this, if you think you'll make heavy use of this maybe a config change could be proposed, although for events, edit-a-thons, etc. we usually just request that the IP cap be lifted for the IP or IP range where the account creation process will take place so the people themselves can create the accounts without the need of a third party user (see m:mass account creation). Regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 22:39, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
I am not sure I would be qualified to lift the IP cap, do not know about Lymantria and Vogone.--Ymblanter (talk) 09:43, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
I am uncertain what exactly is meant by the IP cap and I am able to lift it... Lymantria (talk) 15:18, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
That would have to be done by the (WMF) developers. --Rschen7754 20:21, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, MarcoAurelio! The problem with the IP cap solution is that, at the moment, the IP is unknown (I'm in touch with the network administrator of the hackathon). — Envlh (talk) 05:30, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

Could a bureaucrat close this? --Rschen7754 00:22, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

✓ Done, thanks for pointing it out.--Ymblanter (talk) 05:34, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

Flood Flag Request

Hi,

I plan to import nearly-all SIREN number (P1616) for commune of France (Q484170). I've done the 10 first départements already (see my last edits Special:Contributions/VIGNERON) and there was no problem. The Wikidata:WikiProject France/Communes has been notified and 4 members approved the import. It is a one time job so I'd like to request a flood flag (not sure if it's necessary for 60 000 edits, what is the threshold to be considered a flood?).

Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 14:18, 13 October 2017 (UTC)

I granted the flood flag for a week. You should remove it once the flooding task is done. Kind regards, Lymantria (talk) 09:36, 14 October 2017 (UTC)
Thank you Lymantria. Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 09:48, 14 October 2017 (UTC)

I have started this RFC about account creators. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:00, 21 October 2017 (UTC) (for Rschen7754)
