Motivation
MonDO (Monarch Disease Ontology) is a semi-automatically constructed ontology that merges in multiple disease resources to yield a coherent merged ontology. One feature of MONDO is that it goes beyond loose xrefs. It has curated precise 1:1 equivalence axioms connecting to other resources, validated by OWL reasoning. This means it is safe to propagate across these from OMIM, Orphanet, EFO, DOID (soon NCIT). There is a mondo-minimal product that is released under CC0. This resource will be used to complement the Disease Ontology and other disease-focused resources that are currently in Wikidata by adding a more complete picture of disease classes and also to add cross-references in a more accurate manner by using mapping relation type (P4390) qualifiers to external resources.
