- Motivation
I'm importing paintings from Bavarian State Painting Collections (Q812285) and I noticed they have quite nice artist biographies. I want to use this property to link to these. On top of that some nice collection specific quality control is possible. Multichill (talk) 16:28, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Support Looks very useful! Jane023 (talk) 16:31, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Support I think the better part of the artist biographies (if there is one) is not superior to Wikipedia. Also the data quality is not the highest, I remember I encountered some mistakes some while ago. Anyway, the "nice collection specific quality control" sounds useful and the links here won't harm that much I guess :-) --Marsupium (talk) 16:49, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
- Comment But I think we should use the permalinks. (Souce code may be copied to table above.)
- |example = Arnold Böcklin (Q123071) → 5RGQMDaGz3
- |formatter URL = https://www.sammlung.pinakothek.de/en/bookmark/artist/$1
- (And in the example it should probably be Arnold Böcklin (Q123071), not The Ride of Death (Q29897410).) --Marsupium (talk) 17:01, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
- I considered these bookmarks, but I opted for the more human readable links because that makes it easier to work with and makes it easier to find errors. Take for example The Ride of Death (Q29897410), the artist is embedded in the work url. Multichill (talk) 17:22, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
- That's right of course. For now the human readable links are nicer. I'm just afraid that the links won't work any more in near future. The Bavarian State Painting Collections (Q812285) change their website and produce dead links with impressing speed. Though here we can simply change the formatter URL if the rest stays persistent and hope that it does.
- Concerning The Ride of Death (Q29897410): I only now saw that you use the permalinks for described at URL (P973) but not for reference URL (P854) for the references. I think that isn't a good idea because of the mentioned dead link producing speed and the circumstance that we can't simply change a formatter URL for that … --Marsupium (talk) 17:42, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

- @Multichill: It seems that there's a concern about URL stability. Maybe it's worth asking the source of how we can idealy link to it? ChristianKl (talk) 11:49, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
- @ChristianKl: It's worth the risk to have something more understandable. Multichill (talk) 21:09, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Marsupium: silent agreement? Multichill (talk) 19:45, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
- Voilà: Explicit agreement! Even though I'd prefer the permalinks I see your point and I'm OK with the human readable IDs. :-) --Marsupium (talk) 23:01, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
