North America PlayStation Store ID[edit]

Originally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Creative work

Motivation[edit]

The PlayStation Store serves as a useful database of thousands of games available for PlayStation platforms. I'm aware that PlayStation ID (P2606) already exists, but these IDs appear to be different and can be used alongside a formatter URL. I'm not for certain if this proposal is using the best available formatter URL, so any input would be appreciated. Lewis Hulbert (talk) 16:34, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thus, there would need to be separate properties for each region, or the ID format needs to be changed. I think the latter would be better. Santer (talk) 20:30, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for the late response, but it's taken me a while to look into this properly. It looks like there are 3 separate regions and 75 locales.
Europe: en-au, de-at, ar-bh, nl-be, fr-be, en-bg, en-hr, en-cy, en-cz, da-dk, fi-fi, fr-fr, de-de, en-gr, en-hu, en-is, en-in, en-ie, en-il, it-it, ar-kw, ar-lb, fr-lu, de-lu, en-mt, nl-nl, en-nz, no-no, ar-om, pl-pl, pt-pt, ar-qa, en-ro, ru-ru, ar-sa, en-sk, en-si, en-za, es-es, sv-se, en-se, de-ch, fr-ch, it-ch, en-gb, ru-ua, ar-ae, en-tr, tr-tr
North America: es-ar, es-bo, pt-br, en-ca, es-cl, es-co, es-cr, es-ec, es-sv, es-gt, es-hn, es-mx, es-ni, es-pa, es-py, es-pe, en-us, es-uy, en-hk, en-id, en-my, en-sg, ko-kr, en-tw, en-th
Japan: ja-jp
I could not find any ID that was common between the three regions and the locale is required in the URL. This leaves two options that I can think of: including the locale in the identifier, but this could cause problems, for example an European release would have 49 different locales and thus 49 different unique identifiers. I think the better option here is having multiple properties for the PlayStation Store, based on the three above regions. This request would become something along the lines of PlayStation Store ID (North America). Lewis Hulbert (talk) 22:20, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Support I'm fine with making this property specific to one region, this would most likely solve this issue. Properties for the other regions could always be added later (there's actually a China region as well, with IDs starting with "H"). Santer (talk) 07:53, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2, Santer, Cwf97, Lewis Hulbert, Sir Lothar: ✓ Done: North America PlayStation Store ID (P5944). − Pintoch (talk) 11:18, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2, Cwf97, Lewis Hulbert, Pintoch, Sir Lothar, Santer: Should we not create new properties for the other PlayStation Store regions, then? Does a new request need to be raised for this?

@Macrike:. Yes, I think that we should consistently create such properties. Sir Lothar (talk) 13:20, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
