Motivation[edit]
We have been working on a project with Aberdeen Archives, Gallery and Museums to upload, and link all 3000+ known ships built in Aberdeen. This identifier would allow us to link at a ship-level to records on the Scottish Built Ships Database too. Eventually we should be able to do the same for ship builders and shipyards too.
