Planned use	Wikimedistas de Uruguay has been working with Montevideo Center of Photography (CdF) to upload to Commons their collection of scanned old photographs. The CdF has provided metadata about the pictures, including the type of damage each photograph has suffered. We are requesting this property to use it as Structured Data on Commons.

Motivation

We believe that this property is particularly relevant for Structured Data on Commons. It will be useful to describe scanned photographs and possibly other types of visual artwork. This has been discussed in the GLAM-Wiki global telegram group. Piracalamina (talk) 19:33, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

•  Oppose In a quick search I couldn't find another property that could be used for the described need. However, I don't see why the property scope should be so narrow. It looks like we could need a property for all kinds of "deterioration" of things. I don't see why this should be restricted to the decay of photograph (Q125191). --Marsupium (talk) 16:40, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
  • There is a case to be made that the narrow scope allows for the restricted set of allowed values, mostly specific to photography, which enforces consistent modeling. Swpb (talk) 20:15, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

  I think I agree with @Marsupium , I've just checked CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model (Q624005) has a property P44 has condition. I guess this could be the asked generalization. —Ismael Olea (talk) 15:21, 16 April 2024 (UTC)

  I too think now that image decay is too specific. I'm torn between proposing "has conditions" or "deterioration". "has conditions" has the advantage of being documented in that source, but it also feels too general to me. "deterioration" could be used for visual artwork, architecture and many other things, but I haven't found a document that uses that term as a property. Piracalamina (talk) 18:49, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

  @Piracalamina,@Marsupiumː̺ I would like to see this applied to archival records,orsimplypaper (andsimilar) documents in general, with valuessuch as damaged by fire, sunlight, water, mold, termites etc. ̣̣Q|39054ˌ affected by an unstable foundation and gravity.
