- Motivation
Wikidata is so far lacking weather data due to difficulties in storing huge datasets in an item. With the data namespace on commons and the tabular data datatype we got now a solution for this problem, i.e. the data file is stored on commons and we link from Wikidata to that file. Wikipedia and Wikivoyage can access this data either through a Lua module or the graph extension. en:Template:Graph:Weather monthly history is an example of a template using the graph extension to display weather data stored on commons. This template can be extended such that the file name doesn't have to be specificed but is taken directly from Wikidata. --Pasleim (talk) 16:23, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
