AndreCostaWMSE-bot 5[edit]
AndreCostaWMSE-bot (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools)
Operator: André Costa (WMSE) (talk • contribs • logs)
Task/s: The function of the bot is to import data about immovable cultural heritage to Wikidata as part of Wikimedia Sverige's Connected Open Heritage Project.
This request is for data about cultural heritage monuments in Georgia from the Wiki Loves Monuments Database.
Code: The bot uses Python and the Pywikibot framework. The code is up on Github: Framework, Specific table processing script. This is the same base as that used by AliciaFagervingWMSE-bot requests for Connected Open Heritage Project imports.
Function details:
The bot processes data from the Wiki Loves Monuments Database, in this case ge_(ka), about 7,400 items. They will all make use of Georgian National Register of Monuments ID (P4166) as an identifier.
Below you can see the:
- The mappings: Wikidata:WikiProject WLM/Mapping tables/ge (ka)
- An example of how the data is translated into Wikidata properties: Wikidata:WikiProject WLM/Mapping tables/ge (ka)/preview
- Matched items which will be updated: Wikidata:WikiProject_WLM/Mapping_tables/ge (ka)/matches
Some test edits have been made: Q42415772, Q42415815, Q42416224, Q42416239, Q42416258

- Is there a way to link directly to the monuments database and not to WMF labs?--Ymblanter (talk) 14:05, 1 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- @Ymblanter: Not sure I understand the question. The monuments database lives on WMF labs. I modified the link above a bit to give less errors. Alternatively I can replace these links by ge_(ka) if you prefer. /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 08:25, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- What I mean (and also for other countries) is the following: Identifiers like 2683, are they originally coming from some official government database (presumably published in Georgian)? If not, I am fine with approving the bot, but if yes, is there any way to link to that database?--Ymblanter (talk) 10:18, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- @Ymblanter: For the countries that use Wiki Loves Monuments ID (P2186) there is no relation between the id and any official id (as far as could be determined). For countries which use a specific property (such as Georgia) the id corresponds to an entry in that database. But many of these are not online, Georgia being one of these. When the id can be used to look up the entry online the url is generated by the Property. In a few cases there is no relation between the url and the id, for these we have added the url as a qualifier instead (see e.g. request 7). Hope that clarifies it. /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 14:58, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
