Well, hello there! As some administrators here have suggested me to apply for this, as well as having gotten an OK from one of the current oversighters here on Wikidata, I would like to help out as an oversighter here.

As -revi and KonstantinaG07 were removed for inactivity in October 2023 and February 2022 respectively, Wikidata is now down to only three oversighters. But, most importantly, we are currently missing a major time zone within the OS team, namely European times. None of Wikidata's current local oversighters are located in Europe, and as such, I would like to help to give coverage during the times when the current oversighters are not able to assist, as I am able to fill that gap.

I already have experience using oversight; as I am a steward I already assist with a large amount of the OS requests we get through VRT and IRC, if you would like to get a humm of about how active I would be with the tools, and I already have access to view all suppressed edits/log actions and the suppression logs. If elected, I would like to assist with oversight requests sent to the oversight-wikidata email queue on VRT, as well as #wikidata-revdel.

In short; the OS team has stated that they have wanted more helping hands, and so I'd like to offer mine. In case of any questions or particular concerns, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them. Thanks and regards, EPIC (talk) 20:39, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  1.  Support Trusted steward, active, I think extra hands could help, and they already have experience handling OS requests. --KonstantinaG07 (talk) 21:59, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  6.  Neutral No concerns, but I have the feeling that you are moving forward too fast (Admin on Wikidata December 2023, Steward February 2024, Admin on Meta March 2024, now Oversighter on Wikidata) --Ameisenigel (talk) 08:44, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, from the beginning, another admin wanted to nominate me. But, I don't have any will for any other user rights in the future, because I do not feel that there is much else I have use for than what I already have :) EPIC (talk) 09:03, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  7.  Support From the amount of hate he gets from LTAs and how well he's taking it, he seems like a good choice for a Stewie, clearly he is doing something right. If you look at the statistics for people who are involved in both Wikidata and global stuff it seems evident that they have reduced their activity on Wikidata. Since he's a steward he can already access all the dirty laundry, adding oversight rights only means he's able to do something about matters requiring oversight, which can only be a good thing. • You write None of Wikidata's current local oversighters are located in Europe - as far as I am aware I have never disclosed where I am located. On what basis are you concluding that I am not located in Europe? --DannyS712 (talk) 00:41, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
they said time zone not location BrokenSegue (talk) 06:22, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, what I meant was that none of the oversighters are located in European time zones, if I'm correct on that. But, I have no idea where you are located. EPIC (talk) 07:27, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • You became a steward at the end of February and an admin on meta at the end of March. Do you believe that you will be able to handle the extra demands of being an oversighter here on Wikidata? (To be clear, having multiple advanced rights isn't a bad thing, just wondering if you are going to burn out) --DannyS712 (talk) 00:44, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DannyS712: Thanks for the question; my simple answer is that I believe that this shouldn't take up too much of my time. Most of the requests for oversight on Wikidata, afaik, are through VRT, which I already check multiple times daily as I regularly handle OS requests to the stewards (and I already have email notifications turned on for the queues in which I handle the most requests, so most of the time I quickly notice new tickets), and another OS queue probably won't be too hard to handle.
But, in the case scenario I would not be able to provide enough time to be useful within the role (which I think and hope shouldn't be the case), I would likely resign instead, as Wikidata doesn't earn much from an inactive OS. However, in short, I think I will be able to devote enough time to be active within the role. EPIC (talk) 07:38, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
