John F. Lewis[edit]

Although the reason is probably confidential, I think this user is no longer trusted. In addition, his action in a non-WMF wiki (orain.org, currently offline) is also unacceptable.--GZWDer (talk) 06:21, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Oppose, pending more information. Actions on a non-WMF wiki are not grounds for rights removal. Regarding the global lock, I think we need more information on this.     In general I will not publicly comment on exact reasons for a lock other then that it was done for the safety of the projects at the time. He is not currently "Globally Banned" (why it came from my staff account rather then User:WMFOffice) and the current status of his lock is still "temporary". While actions sometimes need to be taken in the heat of the moment once the immediate threat is decreased (he can not log in and therefore can not use his rights), then time can be taken to ensure the right thing is done. When the final decision is made for his account I will do the needed on our side including and rights removals and, if he remains locked, changing the lock summary to be a bit more specific.   •  Oppose per Jalexander-WMF's comment: As long as we as a community do not know what happened AND John cannot login in, there's no reason for us to take any action against him. If the WMF discloses more information incriminating John BUT removes the lock AND does not remove his rights itself, THEN we can/should do. As for the Orain issue mentioned by GZWDer: What I read at Wikipediocracy upon this request here sounded very concerning at first. However, but I have no reason to believe that the latest update in this thread, claiming that John F. Lewis proved innocent, is incorrect (the same claim is also made on the "Orain.org" entry in Encyclopedia Dramatica [cannot be linked due to the spam filter], in an article that appears not to be satirical, as most other parts of that project are). --YMS (talk) 08:10, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
