Scope
The administration of Cultural Documents in Germany is a federal matter. That means there is a different jurisdiction and transparency regarding Cultural Monuments for each state (Bundesland). This mirrors in a wide array and inconsistency of cultural heritage lists in Wikipedias and Wikidata: some states are completely covered, while others, of which heritage lists are not published, are rather incomplete.
For projects like Wiki Loves Monuments, it would be helpful for monuments to be linked to unique identifiers, which include the address and geographical coordinates. This would make it possible to create an easy-to-use uploader that would enable anybody, regardless of their familiarity with the local environment, to identify cultural monuments and to upload images with proper descriptions and categories.
It is the aim of this WikiProject to systematically capture all cultural heritage sites in Germany for Wikidata, to make this data available for Wikipedias, Wikimedia Commons, and the event Wiki Loves Monuments.
How to go about
This Wikidata-specific, Germany-centric project is in addition to other WikiProjects; notably, Wikidata:WikiProject WLM and de:Wikipedia:WikiProjekt Denkmalpflege/Deutschland (in German).
We split this project according to its federal nature by states (Bundesländer). Up-to-date data is particularly avaliable at the partner WikiProject in German Wikipedia: WikiProjekt Denkmalpflege/Deutschland.
