Subpages?[edit]

It may be senseful to create subpages for the right removal requests, like it happens for the RFPs. As especially the last request shows, there is often a need for extended discussion. Any opinions about whether we should do this for RFP/R as well? Vogone (talk) 16:33, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Support only for advanced permissions. Specifically, both rollback and property creator shouldn't need it; confirmed should not either;  Oppose for minor rights.--Jasper Deng (talk) 01:33, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@AmaryllisGardener, Jasper Deng: What is "advanced" in your opinion (Jasper already answered that partly) and why do you think minor rights should not have a subpage? Is bot an advanced right? The past has shown that also requests to remove "minor" rights may cause discussion (especially in case of PC/RB) and I think there will be such a need to discuss in any case someone is accused of having abused permissions, no matter what that permission is. Furthermore, I can't think of any situation where the confirmed right should be revoked due to abuse, as most users here are autoconfirmed anyway. Thanks in advance for your clarification. The usual system with minor rights, at least in my opinion admin discretion to remove it immediately. A formal discussion may not be needed. I would be OK with requiring subpages for minor rights if admin discretion were an option; discussions could be started as necessary.--Jasper Deng (talk) 05:57, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I guess bureaucrat, administrators, and bots can go to individual pages, the rest can just stay on the same page.--Ymblanter (talk) 07:13, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
With occasional creation of subpages even for minor rights if the discussion becomes too long.--Ymblanter (talk) 07:16, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And why not put everything on subpages? It would make linking to requests in summaries at Special:UserRights and archiving them easier, as otherwise we'd need to deal with permanent links and mixed archives. It's not like removal requests happen every day (3 times since wiki creation) and thus it also wouldn't be "too many" subpages. Regards, Vogone (talk) 14:34, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We can do this as well, but given an extremely low number of such requests and a what higher probability of accidental or inappropriate creation of such pages, this is not my preference.--Ymblanter (talk) 21:29, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Where is the big difference between clicking on the delete button and clicking on the rollback button? I don't understand this point, unfortunately. Vogone (talk) 10:23, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, obviously that the delete button is only available to admins, whereas the rollback button is available to a broader category of users. However, as I said, it is not a big deal. I believe keeping minor rights on one page is convenient, but I can live with subpages.--Ymblanter (talk) 11:09, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
