population doesn’t have what?

[edit]

@Jura1: Can you explain this diff to me? I don’t understand your comment, sorry. --Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 12:59, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • There is no single value constraint for population and I don't think it's just the most recent one that gets preferred rank, as there generally estimates and census data around for different dates (different determination method). So the sample isn't ideal.

@Jura1: Well, there’s no such constraint on mass (P2067) yet either, because it’s a new constraint type :) but I think that both mass (P2067) and population (P1082) should eventually have a “single best value” constraint (though I shouldn’t add it myself). It’s true that the best value for population (P1082) is not always the most recent one, but I wasn’t sure how to explain that briefly. But I would like to have more than one example in the documentation page, and in my opinion, population (P1082) is a good candidate for an easy-to-understand property that should not have a “single value” constraint but should have a “single best value” constraint. --Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 16:39, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How to add to an entry

[edit]

The main help page explains the concept well enough - at least I get it. But I've spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get rid of a flag telling me I need to use 'single best value constraint'. I still don't know how to apply it. I'm trying to mark the 'best' title of a book. Help? --Emain Macha (talk) 13:28, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Emain Macha: After stumbling around for a similar amount of time, I found Help:Ranking to actually say how to apply the "preferred" ranking which removes that flag. --Einstein95 (talk) 13:52, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
