Why not have the color in the item of the fruit?[edit]

@Emwille, Succu, The Erinaceous One, UWashPrincipalCataloger: The most straightforward way to store this information would be has fruit type (P4000) having this property essentially needs storing the information two times. Why do you prefer this modeling? ChristianKl16:29, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Emwille, ChristianKl, The Erinaceous One, UWashPrincipalCataloger:: Beyond fruit color (Q115395119) we have ripe color (Q115413697) too. --Succu (talk) 22:25, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There are likely all sorts of other aspects such as weight of the fruit that's also worth documenting. Using has fruit type (P4000) allows for storing all that information. ChristianKl13:42, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
has fruit type (P4000) has a very specific meaning. Fruit type is used for whether a fruit is a berry, a drupe, a samara, a pome, or some other kind of fruit. See for example https://www.britannica.com/science/fruit-plant-reproductive-body, which has a table on the types of fruits. Color is not one of the categories or classes of fruits. Also, most plants do not have a separate item for the fruit itself, so it is appropriate to use this property on the species of plant item in most cases. UWashPrincipalCataloger (talk) 07:42, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
