Status[edit]
How these links should work? They always give me "server error". User:2001:9E8:1844:F100:EC3D:B6E8:D508:4F42 is massively adding links, but some of them are reverted by User:מקף, can you also comment? Infovarius (talk) 08:20, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Some of the IP user's additions seem misdirected, e.g: adding a Fox News community link to the fox animal's item page.
- The IP user also might be running a bot to add the links.
- As for the "Server Error" message, it might be because all these links are going through lemmy.world's "federation interconnect" (tentative name) interface, and sometimes it's a bit unstable, based on the load of lemmy.world. But in all cases, the "federation" interface is displaying a cached version of the community, which might not be up to date with the source community.
- You can visit the source community using
host.tld/c/communityname
, but in case of Kbin (which is NOT a Lemmy community, but an ActivityPub-enabled forum platform), it'skbin.social/m/communityname
. Kbin is also a separate forum software, but Kbin-based sites use the/m/communityname
format instead of Lemmy's/c/communityname
format, but on the federation side, this difference doesn't count. - Also, take into consideration that there are "problematic" instances that host inappropriate material and etc., and those should be placed on a blacklist to make sure they aren't linked from WD.
For federation information regarding only Lemmy servers, you can use this site CrystalLemonade (talk) 09:00, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- The foxnews community is actually about foxes foxnews@lemmy.sdf.org – Shisma (talk) 06:59, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- Oh well, then I guess it's like the Superbowl subforum, which was actually about superb owls, not the event. CrystalLemonade (talk) 07:21, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- yep. sorry about that 😅 – Shisma (talk) 19:40, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the ping.
Indeed, I reverted some of his edits because I saw that they were incorrect additions, and I even believed that they might were intended to create cover for the edits in the items abouts decentralized coins, which to me seemed to be spambot edits. · מקף Hyphen ෴ · 16:27, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
Only one value?[edit]
Hi!
With federation, it's often that a same topic will have several communities on different instances. Off the top of my mind I can think of cooking@lemmy.world, bonnebouffe@jlai.lu, cooking@beehaw.org, food@slrpnk.net, etc. which are all cooking or cooking-adjacent communities.
Would it be possible to remove this constraint? Exilexi (talk) 08:26, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
