Rivers[edit]

I propose to extend this property for rivers as well.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:31, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I wonder if for lakes, this should include countries downstream or not. AFAIK most infoboxes at en_wiki only lists countries that drain into the lake. --  Docu  at 18:29, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, for lakes it should only include countries which drain into the lake. (We can also include seas, then there is no problem what to include).--Ymblanter (talk) 19:35, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Thierry Caro: Hi, may you consider to eliminate the constraint item-requires-statement constraint (Q21503247) = drainage basin (P4614) for this property ?. It may be correct for rivers, but in the case of seas, the "bassin" is itself (see Mediterranean Sea (Q4918)). Perhaps, it could be accepted as a P31, instead. Thanks, Amadalvarez (talk) 04:49, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the basin of a sea is not limited to the sea itself, it's the sea plus any part of land around that sea that has its surface water eventually reaching the said sea. I've created Mediterranean Sea drainage basin (Q55983666) so that you may use it as a value for drainage basin (P4614) on Mediterranean Sea (Q4918).
