Use this property for camera items[edit]

@Pigsonthewing, GZWDer, Dhx1: I assume that this property was created to inform "shoot frequency" in weapons items. However, "(maximun) shoot frequency" is also present as shutter characteristic for photographic cameras.

As shutter frequency for camera doesn't exist as a property and the present P3792 is only used in 21 items, my suggestion is to use this P3792 to show also "shoot rate for cameras".

As a example I use it in Canon EOS 850D (Q93428008).

Then, we must change domain to weapon (Q728) & camera (Q15328), including frame rate (Q119565) as a valid unit and, maybe, adjust some other constraints.

We should adjust the property name to some more "cross-topic", for instance "shooting rate" instead of "rate of fire", because cameras shoot, but not fire.

If there are no rejections, I assume it's OK and I'll change in 10 days, Thanks. Amadalvarez (talk) 17:55, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This may be awkward in some other language. A new property is probably needed. GZWDer (talk) 17:58, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe this happens. In catalan we "make pictures", but everybody understand "shoot the camera". Anyway.
Ask for a new property is the easy way, but it's a pity to have this one almost unused. With only 21 items since 2017, may be it worth to reuse 100% for cameras and forget the presents uses. Thanks for your opinion. Amadalvarez (talk) 20:39, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose reuse of this property. This property is the rate at which an object is emitted by another object. Taking a photo on a camera is a sampling rate (Q333746) or how often electromagnetic radiation received by an object is measured. I suggest a new property for sampling rate (Q333746), and this new property would have many uses outside of just photography. Dhx1 (talk) 14:31, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, @Dhx1 for this good explanation. I'll open a proposal for a property oriented to a "camera shooting rate". Could you help me to transform the basic version in an multi-uses property ?. I'll ping you when I prepare. Thanks, Amadalvarez (talk) 15:53, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Dhx1 I appreciate if you may complement the description of Wikidata:Property proposal/frame rate. I asked for photo & video camera, but also to be valid for sampling (Q210868). However, I've not enough knowdledge on this topic. Thanks, Amadalvarez (talk) 16:35, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done, see sampling rate (P11413). Thanks to @Dhx1 @GZWDer. Amadalvarez (talk) 06:43, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
