Allowed-entity-types constraint

Hi,

I see (thanks to Eihel that the allowed-entity-types constraint (Q52004125) constraint has been changed a few times and there was few discussion about it (if I'm not mistaken).

The initial proposal (Wikidata:Property proposal/grammatical gender) in April 2018 didn't really talked about it (« Statement directly in the lexeme for the main form, and in forms for specific forms. » and a mention of grammatical features). Then :

• Pizza1016 created the constraint shortly after creation for Wikibase lexeme (Q51885771) only
  • a few days letter they changed it for Wikibase form (Q54285143) only (???) and reverted it 2 minutes later
  • 3 minutes later he added Wikibase form (Q54285143) to Wikibase lexeme (Q51885771)
• five month later, Jura1 added Wikibase sense (Q54285715) (?) and removed the status mandatory constraint (Q21502408) (???)
• it didn't changed since

Now, this property is used on :

• 452348 lexemes
• 169 senses (and 83 distinct lexemes)
• 29 forms (and 25 distinct lexemes)
• 10 items (errors that need correction)

(counting only direct values, there is also 68 use as qualifier for instance)

I think it safe to say that we could and probably should go back to the initial constraint (Wikibase lexeme (Q51885771) only and mandatory constraint (Q21502408)). What do you think?

Hi there,

I have been using this property exclusively for Lexemes and I currently have no plans to use them for forms or senses.

In that regard, I have no issue in going back to the initial constraint. Situxx (talk) 21:24, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

I have only used this property on Lexemes (as far as I recall). I agree that it should be only used for lexemes. Furthermore, I do not know of any uses on senses and forms. John Samuel (talk) 21:38, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
