Broken formatter URL?[edit]

I tried the few examples and they do not resolve anymore − eg https://www.commonsensemedia.org/node/5405541. Jean-Fred (talk) 14:45, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I seem to be having the same problem, the "shortlink" element is no longer found in the source code of Common Sense Media URLs. - Victor P. (talk) 16:04, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There are 3 IDs that Common Sense uses (and a 4th canonical URL). Let's take Jurassic Park for an example:
I think what you are seeing @Jean-Fred is some are using the Node(5) (currently resolving) and some are using the NID(7) (failing). The Node(5) is exposed in the source code by searching for "currentPath"; the NID(7) and UUID is not exposed in the source code but is available through the API. From the looks of things, this property began by using the NID(7), previously available in the URL or source code. At some point the NID(7) was moved elsewhere and Common Sense put Node(5) at the /node/ URL. 799 items use this property, 695 are using the original NID(7), and 167 have been updated with the Node(5) which resolves. One issue with that third-party formatter URL is that EIDR is only storing the NID and the UUID. They also are saying the seven digit NID is being replaced by the UUID. Chchowmein (talk) 08:24, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Id acquisition userscript[edit]

here is a userscript that will put the node id in the url when browsing the website:

Maybe it's of use to anyone else – Shisma (talk) 17:01, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
