Discontinued -> Deletion?[edit]

After an RfC on enWP Template_talk:Infobox_person#RfC: Should the "influences" & "influenced" parameters be removed? and as a result, it was discontinued and "influenced"-parameters are no longer called for the infobox. But apparently P737 is still used at Lady Gaga. Maybe this property P737 "influenced by" (and P738 "influenced") should be deleted. --Atlasowa (talk) 08:45, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Difference between this property and P144[edit]

Wondering how exactly this differs from Property:P144. Thoughts? --Izno (talk) 21:36, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, based on (P144) and inspired by (P941) indicate specific works which were an example or inspiration, while the target of this property are more general (ideas, authors). Bever (talk) 00:56, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Name change[edit]

Sentences of the form "Aristotle has influence of Plato" are less readable and make less sense than "Aristotle was influenced by Plato". I've therefore been bold and changed the primary name of the property to something that makes more sense in English. —Tom Morris (talk) 14:26, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

P738 is deprecated[edit]

Should we remove the "inverse of P738" property?

How can I say just the opposite?[edit]

How can I express just the opposite of "influenced by" (is to say: "influences"). For example: Søren Kierkegaard was influenced by Immanuel Kant but he influenced Ludwig Wittgenstein. -Theklan (talk) 23:04, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, we need passive (Q1194697)/active (Q1317831) --Fractaler (talk) 15:05, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
We need it... so there isn't? -Theklan (talk) 14:59, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
May be "property proposal" --Fractaler (talk) 09:50, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
We don't need to express that. 1) It is enough to have "was influenced" and to calculate all reverse links; 2) can you imagine how many "influences" will be in some popular things (like Bible). --Infovarius (talk) 20:51, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That might be, but take da:Stephen King, he has influenced Peter David, J. J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, Jeaniene Frost but I have no way to implement this in the inbox. Kind regards,  Rodejong  💬 ✉️  23:35, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
