How to use this property[edit]

@YULdigitalpreservation: I am not convinced this property adds value but its used on many places as a reference but I dont see what added value it does. Any update/Timeplan? Should we delete it? - Salgo60 (talk) 08:09, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Salgo60: We should keep this property. This property is useful for researchers working in literary studies, periodical studies, historians, and beyond. This property allows people who reuse data from Wikidata via the SPARQL endpoint to write queries related to this dataset. Prior to contributing their data to Wikidata it was in an offline database. Now that they have contributed it to Wikidata, researchers working with this data can ask questions of it that were previously not possible. SPARQL queries related to this data are more concise to write because of the existence of this property. YULdigitalpreservation (talk) 11:44, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@YULdigitalpreservation: thanks for fast answer I will come back. Related question I will have a short session on the next editorial meeting of a Swedish women dictionary see en:Svenskt_kvinnobiografiskt_lexikon I will try to convince them move direction linked data so if you have good research examples or more information what WeChangEd do I am more than glad. @Salgo60: The new project you mentioned sounds great! I can offer WeChangEd's interative Stories app and ScienceStories. Fingers crossed they take your suggestion! YULdigitalpreservation (talk) 12:16, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Salgo60: Thank you for providing the example. That helps me understand. It is great to see the infoboxes reusing Wikidata. The reason we link to that page is that there are 3 .csv files available on that page that are exports from the WeChangEd database. The birthdates for people are available in the "WeChangEd Persons" file. YULdigitalpreservation (talk) 11:37, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
