Not since the Revolutionary War has Colonel Jerome Rappleyea received the attention he's been getting in the past month. Rappleyea is one of two veterans of the war for independence buried in Easton Avenue's only cemetery, a small, dusty plot across from DeMott Lane ... cleared away dust and dirt to read the inscriptions on the headstones. "Lord, I command my soul to Thee. Accept the sacred trust. Receive this nobler part of me. And watch my sleeping dust," read the marker for Rappleyea, who died at 73 in 1831. His wife and daughter are buried next to the Revolutionary War veteran, who outlived them both. (English)
