The grim shadow of ill luck has passed over the home of Frank Burke, 27 Condict Street, once more. Mrs. Mary Burke, his wife and mother of six small children, four boys and two daughters, died yesterday in the City Hospital, where she was taken after the last stalking of the shadow, July 27. On that date five of the Burke family were enjoying a summer night's ride in their automobile, when it was reduced to a crumpled pile of metal as a result of being hit by a trolley car on the Lincoln Highway near the Hackensack Bridge. Burke, his wife and their 18-months-old son were badly injured and remove to the City Hospital. ... Whether the injuries received in the accident caused the death of Mrs. Burke could not be learned last night at the hospital or home of the woman. She had never been discharged from the institution since being removed there after the accident. The infant son was released from the hospital some time ago. He was removed to the hospital suffering from a fracture of the leg, and other injuries. After the crash, he was found in his father's arms, buried deep in the wreckage. The two older sons, riding in the rear of the car miraculously escaped serious injury. They received slight lacerations but were otherwise uninjured. Two other children begged be allowed to stay at home the night of the accident. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Mrs. Burke was 38. (English)
